If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.

Why is it a good idea to work on groups? Well, the answer can be simple, "more hands make for lighter work".

While some people may prefer to work individually, it is actually a really good idea to make our students work in groups. There are plenty of benefits of working in teams. To begin with, you make your students get to know more about each other, that is really helpful regarding socializing, specially with introvert students. If they are working in a group, they have to listen to each other and compare different views, always in a respectful manner. That is why they will probably have to negotiate, sometimes not everyone is going to agree with every idea so finding a middle ground is key in group projects.

Futhermore, working in groups helps a lot in time management. When students work in a group, they learn to organize themselves as well as the rest of the team because they depend on one another. Moreover, depending on one another teaches students how to delegate some tasks and follow their colleagues' rythms.

Another benefit of working in groups is that it builds up the sense of responsability. Each student's work matter for the entire team so it is a great way of developing some sense of accountability for their own actions. And, of course, this boosts productivity as well as the results.

All in all, working in groups has proven to be a great choice in the classrooms, so don't be afraid to try it out with your students.
