We have come a long way with teaching and learning methods. Nowadays, more and more methods are coming up, and today we are going to talk about one of them: gamification.
On a simple note, gamification is the use of game techniques and elements to non-game activities. We can use game designs or principles on other activities, and we can also incorporate elements like score, for instance. This can be done in a lot of different fields like, for example, marketing or education.
Why is it a good idea to use gamification while teaching? Well, it can be motivating to the students, it can also help improve our concentration skills, it can make students work in teams and collaborate with each other for a common purpose, and the most important thing, because it is fun! It is the perfect way to let students have fun while also learning about any subject. Another great thing about this method is that it doesn't matter if we use it with kids or adults, because everyone likes to play games and have fun! Especially when it is also beneficial for you because you are learning something.
Some of the apps that you can use to gamify are: Kahoot, Storybird, Fligrid or Quizizz. Don't be afraid to try them out and see if your students like them, and if you know some more, leave it in the comments so we can all use them!
